hihi!
My name is Serket and I'm a ttrpg designer and mecha enthusiast. I've lived around the world (Singapore, China, Vietnam), but I'm currently located in the USA.
When I was in highschool, I attempted to put together a Dungeons & Dragons 4e game. This fell apart almost immediately, but I remember writing out the Prestidigitation spell on an index card because I didn't want to forget all of the cool things it could do.
In university, the first thing I did was bike through the rain to my local game store to find a Dungeons & Dragons game. The clerk told me about the Wednesday night Adventurer's League game and my fate was sealed. I showed up on Wednesday with a Homestuck-inspired Drow rogue and made some lifelong friends, who would later go on to teach me Apocalypse World and spark my taste for games beyond D&D.
The first anime I ever watched was Neon Genesis Evangelion. This rewired my brain chemistry and gave me terrible standards for anime, but it was the beginning of my love of mecha. I watched Code Geass and Gurren Lagann, but it wasn't until I graduated university that I first watched Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. I fell in love. I went back to watch Gundam '79 and the UC trilogy. When The Witch from Mercury came out, I knew I was a fan for life.
With the ever-growing enshittification of the internet, I felt like it was important to establish a bastion of my own. Even before the fall of Twitter, I saw how hard it was to create a voice in the middle of a social network. I needed a place where I could build something from the ground up and write my thoughts without trying to fit them into a snarky microblog format.
It would be easy to say that Fluorite Guillotine is a ttrpg blog. It would certainly provide a lot of brand clarity or whatever if this were just a platform for my game design. The truth is that this website is more holistic: a representation of my multiple facets and interests. If you're only here for tabletop stuff, the good news is that I categorize everything so you can easily browse.
